Man found dead in Delaware River in 2003 finally identified through DNA

A man who was found dead in the Delaware River more than 20 years ago has finally been identified, authorities announced Monday.

The body of Edward Anthony Nece was found in a drainage area on a trucking company’s property on Oct. 19, 2003 in Bensalem Township, Pa. But at the time, his body could not be identified.

Nece did not match the description of any people who had been reported missing in the area, and his fingerprints didn’t match any law enforcement databases.

The local coroner determined Nece died by drowning, but his manner of death was not determined. However, foul play was ruled out, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
